The cultural giants

Mood Indigo (IIT Bombay), Saarang (IIT Madras), Antaragni (IIT Kanpur) and Rendezvous (IIT Delhi) form the four pillars of India's cultural-fest circuit. Each runs 4 days, draws over 70,000 attendees, and headlines pro nights with Bollywood and international acts. Oasis at BITS Pilani is the dark horse — the only top-5 fest hosted in a small town, which somehow makes the chaos better.

The tech heavyweights

Techfest (IIT Bombay) is Asia's largest science & tech festival by footfall, with robotics tournaments, international hackathons and lectures from Nobel laureates. Shaastra (IIT Madras) and Techkriti (IIT Kanpur) go deeper on technical workshops and summits, while Tryst (IIT Delhi) leans hardest into competitive programming and AI.

When do they happen?

How to attend

Most fests open registrations 6–8 weeks before the event. Pro-night passes sell out within hours of release — follow each fest's official handle and use FESTOOO to get a single notification feed across all of them. Out-station accommodation is usually arranged by the host college at subsidised rates if you register early.
