Zero Dependency 2026 is a 72-hour online hackathon challenging participants to build useful programs using only their language's standard library, with no third-party runtime packages. The goal is to understand fundamental programming concepts and the underlying mechanics of software. Participants will deepen their understanding of standard libraries, practice engineering without frameworks, and develop skills in areas like networking, parsing, and security.
The hackathon is open to students, developers, engineers, researchers, professionals, and open-source contributors worldwide. Teams can consist of 1-4 members, with solo participation allowed. The event features six distinct tracks: Developer Tools & CLI, Parsers & Data Formats, Web & Network, Data & Storage, Security & Crypto Utilities, and an Open/Wildcard category.
